Presence/Absence Surveys

Great Crested Newt

*Assuming visibility isn’t impaired

A minimum of 4 site visits (6 if presence is confirmed) between mid-March and mid-June, with at least 2 visits between mid-April and mid-May.

On each visit the ecologist will use 3 survey methods (including refuge searching, egg searching, netting, torch survey, bottle trapping).

The survey aims to to detect the presence and extent of GCN population on site, and inform mitigation (if any) appropriate to the extent and size of the development.

An excellent survey
